Erica Durance and Justin Hartley, SmallvilleIf this keeps up, Smallville is going to give me whiplash. The season 8 premiere was all about the Green Arrow, then he disappeared for episode 2, now he's back center stage for Smallville's third episode.

Chloe (Allison Mack) and Clark (Tom Welling) are helping the environment at a global warming party sponsored by Oliver Queen with half-naked waitresses. The two debate the merits of Tess Mercer and whether she's truly as evil as Lex or just another pretty girl.

Oliver (Justin Hartley) arrives in a tuxedo, takes one sip of champagne and promptly falls over. Clark rushes to his side and Oliver tells him he's been poisoned and has just 12 hours to live. He doesn't want to go to a hospital, so they take him back to Chloe's apartment and Chloe calls paramedic Davis Bloom for help.

Davis (Sam Witwer) is wary about helping Oliver without going to the hospital, but he agrees anyway. Clark looks through Oliver's phone to track down his date. He returns to the party, dials the date's number, and uses his super sonic hearing to find her. Unfortunately, she's being wheeled out by EMTs, an apparent victim of an OD.

Lois Lane (Erica Durance) is working late, filing a story about a potential serial killer on the loose. Tess Mercer (Cassidy Freeman) tells her about Oliver's collapse and wants Lois to write the story, though there are concerns that the reporter may still have feelings for her ex.

The poison causes Oliver to have a flashback to the time he was shipwrecked on a deserted island. He'd better watch out for polar bears and hatches. Oliver finds a centipede and considers eating eat, but ultimately decides against. Maybe he's holding out for an Apollo Bar. He sees a wild boar and, to catch it, he carves together a bow, some arrows and a cool green hoodie.
