Previously on Smallville: Chloe accepted her role as the Justice League's Watchtower while Jimmy urged Tess Mercer to look into Davis Bloom.

Ooh, look, a meteor shower! If this seems familiar, it’s because it is. After the shower, Lionel Luthor finds his newly bald son while a naked boy checks in on the Kents’ overturned truck. What’s new is a weird alien egg right out of the movie Alien. It opens up and a disgusting ooze pours out and forms a naked boy of its very own.

Tess Mercer is discerning this all from a series of drawings that lead her to the conclusion that there was a second Traveler. Brains, beauty and the ability to kick any dude’s ass she wants to? That’s my kind of woman.

At the Daily Planet, Clark comes to Tess with a front page story idea about a series of missing people. She refuses to run the story because of the considerable lack of facts, but he thinks she’s hiding something. She turns that back on him, once again hinting that she knows all about Clark’s little secret.

Chloe has dinner with Davis, proving that she really doesn’t care about Jimmy’s feelings at all. Davis cuts himself while preparing some onions, but there’s no cut or blood when Chloe tries to help him. For a girl supposedly devoted to science, she has no problem ignoring facts that are right in front of her.

As he leaves, Davis feels a change coming on, so he does what he always does: go out and find some evildoer, kill him, then bury him far away. When he returns to his car after disposing of the dead body, Tess calls him on the phone as she stands right in front of the car. She knows what he just did, so she presses a button and blows up his car. Once again, I’m compelled to express my devotion to Tess Mercer. As much as I love Sam Witwer, she really is the best new addition of the season.
