I love super hero groups. Whether it’s Voltron, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers or the X-Men, if super heroes unite, I’ll be there. So you can imagine my excitement at the end of last night’s Smallville
when Chloe finally stepped up and solidified herself as Watchtower, the brains behind Oliver Queen’s Justice League.
The closing moments of Smallville
saw Chloe come to the realization that in order for her life to matter, she has to do something important. While the rest of the Justice League didn’t appear, we did get to see photos of Aquaman, Cyborg, Black Canary and Impulse. If only for a brief moment, Smallville
showed us the possibility of some very intriguing stories.

Ever since the Justice League first formed on Smallville
in season 6, there’s been the promise of super heroes uniting to fight evil. While it’s been kept up in the background, the Justice League has been very busy. In the season 8 premiere, Black Canary and Aquaman helped Green Arrow search for Clark while Impulse and Cyborg traveled the southern hemisphere.
And in last night’s episode, Clark revealed that he too is in on the action, missing Chloe’s birthday to fight with Impulse abroad. While it’s all very exciting to hear about, Smallville
needs to start delivering.
The show has a host of entertaining costumed heroes waiting in the wings, yet they’re limited to computer monitors and casual mentions. Perhaps it’s a casting issue. Alaina Huffman, who played Black Canary, is a series regular on the new Stargate: Universe
series and Lee Thompson Young (Cyborg) just showed up as the new surgical intern on Scrubs
Hopefully Chloe’s new role won’t be thrown into the background like the rest of the Justice League, because we need more heroes. It’s not enough to just here about all of their great adventures.
