Vandervoort has also had strong interest in writing, and studied at York University where she majored in both English and Psychology. Kara Zor-El is portrayed by Laura Vandervoort in the CW television superhero drama series Smallville. She is the biological cousin and fellow Kryptonian survivor of Clark Kent, also known as Kal-El, who was also sent to look after him and watch over him when they escaped their planet’s destruction. However, she was trapped in suspended animation for more than 15 years. During the sixth season’s finale episode titled “Phantom,” she was set free from her imprisonment with the destruction of a dam. Kara possesses all of Clark’s abilities, along with the more advanced ones that he has yet to acquire, such as flight.
