Allison Mack was born on July 29, 1982 in Preetz, Germany, where her father worked as an opera singer. Her family returned to the United States when she was only two years old, and at the tender age of four, Mack began appearing in commercials for German Chocolate. For a brief period of time, she also worked as a child model, but eventually went on to attend The Young Actors Space in Los Angeles when she was seven years old.
Before she landed the role of Nicole Jacob on the WB family drama series, 7th Heaven, Mack had already appeared in numerous television productions, such as Empty Nest, Hiller and Diller, A Mother's Revenge, A Message from Holly, Dad, the Angel and Me and The Care and Handling of Roses, and in the feature film Camp Nowhere. However, it was her performance on 7th Heaven that made her popularity grow, and subsequently she was able to get bigger roles in small screen projects like Providence, Opposite Sex, Kate Brasher, The Nightmare Room and My Horrible Year!.
Mack was further catapulted to stardom when she was cast in the role of Chloe Sullivan in the WB hit series, Smallville. Of her character, Mack said, “I love how tenacious she is. And I love how loyal she is, and trustworthy, and intelligent, and brave, like, she's so brave. She's so brave, and she does these outrageous things because of her commitment to her best friend, and I think that's so honorable, and I love the fact that she's a woman in a man's world and she doesn't let that stop her... In every aspect, in journalism and in the hero world. She's a really strong girl, and she holds her own, and I think that that's pretty awesome.”
Aside from appearing on screen, Mack has also done some voice work for several animated features, including the film The Ant Bully and the series, The Batman.
