You're probably wondering how Smallville can kill off Jimmy Olsen.  Well, it turns out that Jimmy was just his middle name, as we learn at the funeral for Henry James Olsen.  After it's done, Chloe spots Jimmy's little brother and gives him Jimmy's camera, hoping that maybe the little brother will follow in his big brother's footsteps.  Aha, that's a nice way around the obvious continuity error: Jimmy Olsen was never the real Jimmy Olsen!

After the funeral Clark visits Chloe, surprising her in her new studio apartment.  They briefly mention the fact that Lois has been missing for a while, and if you're a big Lois fan, that's all we get about where she is.  Instead, the conversation turns to all the terrible things that happened because Clark thought he was a human.  He now knows that he's an alien and he can't afford to have emotional ties to people.

He tells Chloe that Clark Kent is dead and walks away.  In a confusing twist, Clark literally vanishes into thin air.  WTF?

But as if Lois traveling in time, Jimmy and Davis dying and Clark abandoning Chloe weren't enough, there's one more huge twist.  Remember that thing about the Kandor Orb releasing something if the Traveler defeats the Beast.  Well, it happened, and Tess Mercer is wakened by the glowing Kandor Orb which is outside her mansion.

The Orb burrows into the ground and after a blinding light, the mystery contents of the Orb are revealed by a giant letter "Z" on the ground.  No, it's not Zorro, it's Zod!  Zod is back!  Let's all kneel before him and hope next season's storyline is as interesting as the Doomsday one was.
