The world is back to normal, with Chloe and Jimmy cooing over their wedding’s seating arrangement. Clark stops by, and Chloe calls him “the best looking best man in town.” Wow, Jimmy must have no real friends if Clark is his best man.

She runs out to pay for the flowers when she finds Davis, who confesses that he’s not coming to the wedding because he’s in love with her. Dude, this is a bit stalker-ish. He’s only known her for a few weeks and he’s talking about the connection between them. He kisses her, and after taking a second to enjoy it, Chloe tells him to stop. He vows that he won’t give up.

Finally, Clark heads back to the Fortress to ask his dad about the Kryptonian symbol for “doom,” and it actually stands for the Ultimate Destroyer, a Kryptonian creature designed only to kill, and that Brainiac was using Chloe to find it. Jor-El calls it virtually unstoppable, but Clark vows “I’ll take it on like I have everything else.” Um, spoiler alert: Doomsday kills Superman in the comic book, so I wouldn’t be so cocky, Clark.

Clark speeds off, but that’s not the end. The Brainiac virus that Jor-El exorcized from Chloe has spread into the crystals, and it takes over the whole Fortress, turning it dark as the dulcet voice of James Marsters promises: “Doomsday’s coming.” My fellow BuddyTV writer Don Williams was correct: Smallville is betrter than Heroes, because that was an awesome ending!

Next week o Smallville: Chloe’s getting married, and Lana Lang comes back to town. I’m guessing it doesn’t go smoothly.
