Jones and Clark aren't the only one who suspect Davis Bloom of murder. Chloe runs into him at the morgue where Davis is taking a sample from under the victim's fingernails. Chloe wants a suspect to clear her group, and Davis admits that he thinks he's the serial killer. Chloe refuses to believe it.
Clark confronts Davis with photos of all the murders he stole from Davis' locker. Things get turned around when Davis reveals that Clark happens to be in the background of all the photos too. Chloe is also angry at Clark for giving the police her list of freaks. She's more willing to listen when Clark shows her the blood test from Davis' locker that shows the skin under the murdered girl's fingernails is Davis Bloom's.
Unfortunately, that revelation is made at the same time Jimmy meets up with Davis for a night-time ride-along. They get a call, and when Davis goes in to investigate, Jimmy hears some fighting and calls for help. Clark arrives and suspects Davis, but the paramedic is knocked down by a floating pillar of black smoke with green eyes. Wait, the killer really is the Smoke Monster from
Lost? Well, technically it's one of Chloe's Krypto-freaks who posses the ability to turn into a shadow creature.
In the aftermath, Chloe apologizes to Clark for her anger over his suspicion of her Krypto-freaks, and he apologizes for thinking the worst of Davis. Chloe also apologizes to Davis, but explains that she doesn't think it's a good idea for them to hang out because she can't fully trust herself around him because she trusts him almost as much as she trusts Jimmy. Detective Jones is upset with Clark because he's going around saving people, which makes him vulnerable if someone discovers his secret identity. Indeed, Jimmy is busy investigating the strange case of an anonymous Good Samaritan in Metropolis.
Tess Mercer sends an agent to recruit the Shadow Killer, but Tess also knows that the Shadow Killer wasn't really behind all of the murders he took credit for. But guess who is...Davis Bloom.
