Jimmy moves his stuff into Chloe’s apartment and she learns he tapes bass fishing shows and likes ABBA. Jimmy accidentally stumbles onto a love letter Chloe wrote to Clark when she was 15, bringing up the boring history of whether Chloe is still in love with Clark.

The reporters investigate the stockbroker who died of endorphine overdose. They learn there are a string of dead men from Metropolis to Smallville. Clark spots a weird symbol and brings it back to Chloe, whose Brainiac upgrade comes with knowledge that the symbol is from Maxima’s planet and the endorphines indicate she’s a queen looking for a suitable mate. Chloe tracks the pattern of dead men to the Ace of Clubs.

Jimmy drowns his sorrows at the Ace of Clubs, where Maxima is looking for her man. They talk and Jimmy is seconds away from kissing Maxima, which would be a fatal mistake, literally. He chooses not to, because he loves Chloe, but then Maxima kisses him anyway. Jimmy gets sick and Clark shows up just in time to help, but Maxima sees Clark speed through and finally recognizes her Kryptonian man.

Clark gets Jimmy to the hospital, and though he’s OK, Jimmy is upset at himself for kissing another woman. However, he’s not so upset that he’s willing to accept responsibility, instead blaming Chloe’s love letter to Clark as reason for kissing another woman at a bar.

Clark uses surveillance footage to see Maxima, but she finds him first at the Daily Planet. She kisses him, and her kiss is so good that he shoves everything off his desk for some workplace love-making. She doesn’t want to do it there, instead dragging him into the elevator for some hard kissing and shirt-ripping action. Lois interrupts them and gets irrationally angry. Clark tries to apologize, but it gives Maxima a chance to run away.
