Tess is lurking in the mansion and we learn she ordered her men to capture Bette, and they freaked her out which resulted in her exploding the bus. Tess still wants the girl alive, though her henchman says Lex would have had no qualms eliminating the problem.

Lois and Clark try breaking into the hospital to steal Tommy’s records and Clark bumps into Davis. The sexy EMT congratulates him on his engagement, mistakenly thinking Clark is Chloe’s guy. This mix-up is quickly rectified, though Clark is obviously stunned to learn his best friend is engaged from a total stranger.

Lois finds nothing in the medical records, but Clark puts it together to figure out Bette is the real exploding woman. Chloe figures out the same thing, but only after Bette uses her power in front of her. Bette tells her sob story about being locked up in the Montana compound, but everyone was released a week ago. Tommy sold her out, which is why she exploded when the guys chased her on the bus and why she blamed him.

Fearing she’ll be turned in, Bette tries to blow up Chloe, but Clark shows up in time to save her. Clark wants to help Bette, and she finally agrees to let them help her. This experience affects Chloe, who wants to help other people with powers. Clark also gives her back her engagement ring she lost in the fight, and she admits she wasn’t sure exactly how to tell him. She also admits she’s not entirely ready for things to change between them, which they certainly will when she’s a wife. Clark tells her not to worry, because all he wants is for her to be happy.

Bette is on her way to Belle Reve when Tess shows up, offering an alternative. Tess doesn’t want to experiment on those with powers like Lex did, but instead she wants to form a team of super-powered people to get their own justice. Tess wants to make a hero out of Bette, which is quite an interesting twist.

Things wind down at the Daily Planet, and the topic turns to Chloe’s wedding, and Lois reveals she’s not to thrilled with the groom. She hands Clark Tommy’s obituary, full of edits. Chloe calls up Davis to say she’s reopening the Isis Foundation to help people. Finally, we see Davis didn’t answer his phone because he’s curled up in the fetal position lying in the alley, probably due to the fact that this good Samaritan is also the evil Doomsday.
