Martian Manhunter Flies Back to 'Smallville'
There's going to be one loaded episode on this season of Smallville, so it's a good thing it's getting two hours of airtime.  We reported earlier that Hawkman, Doctor Fate and Stargirl will be appearing on next year's "Society" installment, but we have yet another character to add on the list.  Michael Ausiello of EW.com reports that Martian Manhunter will be back as well.

According to Smallville executive producer Kelly Souders, this news is bound to increase the hype for the upcoming Justice Society-themed episode.  Actor Phil Morris is back to play the role, after appearing on various seasons in the past.

"Society," as we said yesterday, will be penned by Geoff Johns and directed by Glen Winter.  Both of them worked on "Legion," which also had its share of special guest stars.  Now, the highly anticipated January episode of Smallville with this massive list of actors might just top that.  Given the numerous elements it's going to obtain, Souders and fellow showrunner Brian Peterson decided to lengthen it.

"To be honest, there were so many characters and so much great story that people would've been robbed of some great moments if we kept it to just one hour," Kelly Souders said.  "So now that it's a two-parter, you won't miss anything."

Phil Morris has been portraying the Martian Manhunter AKA John Jones AKA J'onn J'onzz on Smallville, first appearing on the season 6 episode "Static."  Even though he wasn't credited there, he continued his work on the show and was seen on seven other installments.

Apparently, the Martian Manhunter usually shows up when Clark (Tom Welling) needs saving.  He's also very hopeful that Kal-El fulfill his destiny, especially since he can't risk his loyalty to his friend Jor-El.

It seems as though our hero is going to need quite lot of help this time, since the whole Justice Society will be heading to Smallville for the episode "Society."  All this can't just be some friendly visit to Metropolis, could it?
