Justin Hartley will be appearing in seven episodes of Smallville's sixth season. Hartley, best known for his work as Fox Crane on the NBC daytime drama "Passions", will be playing Oliver Queen, a.k.a. Green Arrow, a Robin Hood-style hero who comes to Smallville and persuades Clark Kent (played by Tom Welling) to join him in forming a Justice League. Oliver Queen may possibly become a love interest for Lois Lane (Erica Durance) and shares a secret from the past with Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) Justin Hartley previously worked with Smallville's executive producers, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, on the pilot "Aquaman", an attempted spinoff of Smallville based on the high-rated fifth-season episode Aqua. While the pilot was not picked up, Smallville's executive producers apparently liked Hartley's work enough to bring him to Smallville. Season six of Smallville premieres September 28.
