Erica Durance as Lois Lane
Lois Lane is portrayed by Erica Durance in the television show, Smallville. Lois’ arrival in Smallville was prompted by the apparent death of her cousin, Chloe Sullivan. Together with one of Chloe’s best friend, Clark Kent, she embarked in an investigation of Chloe’s murder and was shocked to find that her cousin’s coffin was empty. Wanting to find out the truth, she continued to enlist Clark’s help, but before they could move further, she was stopped by her father, General Sam Lane, who had been collaborating with Lionel Luthor.
In the process of looking for Chloe, Lois was involved in several other mysteries that unraveled in Smallville. When Jason was attacked by the former starting quarterback, she and Clark started their own investigation an ultimately found out that the cheerleaders had been treating the team’s water supply with kryptonite in order to make their boyfriends more obedient. In another instance, she accidentally hit a dog, and when she took the injured animal to the Kent farm, Clark realized that it had extraordinary strength. He then found out that the dog was a product of one of LuthorCorp.’s aborted experiments.
Because she had spent a significant amount of time with Clark, Lois gradually came to know his family. She even helped Jonathan Kent win the senatorial race over Lex Luthor, son of the wealthy and ruthless Lionel Luthor. After Jonathan’s unexpected death, Martha, Jonathan’s wife, took over the position, and Lois continued to show her support for the Kent family by becoming Martha’s Chief of Staff.
Aside from being well-skilled in combat and knowledgeable about the military, Lois has also displayed prowess in investigative journalism. Originally, her main priority was politics, but eventually came to work for the tabloid paper, The Inquisitor. As a writer, she investigated and made articles about the Green Arrow, who later turned out to be her former boyfriend, Oliver Queen.
