Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang

Lana Lang is played by Kristin Kreuk in the television series, Smallville. At the tender age of four, Lana lost her parents to the meteor shower that almost destroyed her hometown of Smallville. She then moved in with her Aunt Nell and became neighbors with the Kent family. Unbeknownst to her at first, the boy whom she knew as Clark Kent was actually Kal-El, an unworldly being from the planet Krypton who fell into Earth during the meteor shower. Clark, who was also unaware of his true identity initially, has had strong feelings for Lana ever since they first met.

Although Lana eventually developed feelings for Clark as well, their relationship did not blossom right away, as she was involved with the high school quarterback, Whitney Fordham. It was only after Whitney was drafted and killed in the line of duty that Lana had the freedom to explore a more intimate relation with Clark, and even then, their relationship was not spared from difficulty and heartbreak. When Lana learned about Clark’s powers, she accepted his marriage proposal, but thereafter was hit by a car driven by Lex Luthor. Clark managed to go back in time with the help of Jor-El, and saved Lana’s life, but he chose to not only keep his powers a secret but also to withhold his marriage proposal. Later on, Clark broke up with Lana, who eventually began dating Lex Luthor.

Lana’s relationship with Lex was also riddled with many complications, especially after they started living together in Lex’s mansion. Despite still having feelings for Clark, Lana accepted Lex’s marriage proposal. She then tried to get out of her engagement when she learned about Clark’s superpowers (she was still unaware that this was the second time she had come to know about Clark’s secret), but was forced to go through with the marriage when Lex’s father, Lionel Luthor threatened to kill Clark.
