The Whedonverse is having a very good day. Not only is one of my favorite
Buffy stars, Emma Caulfield, joining the cast of the great CW drama
Life Unexpected, but James Marsters revealed at Comic-Con that he'll be returning to
Smallville for the 200th episode.
According to Zap2It, Caulfield, who played quirky vengeance demon Anya on
Buffy, will play a woman who works for Baze's father on
Life Unexpected. Let's just hope Baze doesn't add any bunnies to his bar's turtle races.
This is great news since Caulfield has been sadly absent from television since Buffy ended. Aside from a pair of guest starring roles on
Monk and
Private Practice, she's been MIA.
As for Marsters, he appeared at Comic-Con on the panel for SyFy's
Caprica and during the session he revealed that he's returning to
Smallville for the final season to reprise the role of Brainiac in the 200th episode.
When we left Brainiac on
Smallville, he was taken to the 31st century to be reprogrammed by the Legion of Super-Heroes.
Marsters joins another returning face for the final season of
Smallville as it was announced earlier that Laura Vandervoort will be coming back as Kara.
Life Unexpected season 2 will premiere Tuesday, September 14 at 9pm while the final season of
Smallville returns Friday, September 24 at 8pm.
