The Headless Horseman will ride again. In an incredibly quick move, FOX has ordered up a second season of its new show Sleepy Hollow.

The historical action drama starring Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie has performed incredibly well for FOX on Monday nights and has also excelled with DVR and other multiplatform viewing methods. The show debuted with 10.1 million viewers, dropping to just under 8 million in its third episode.

The early renewal is an usual move from a new show, but it was FOX's only option since Sleepy Hollow is one of several shows using a limited-run structure. The first season was intended to be just 13 episodes, like The Following. So the show will end its run by mid-season and return for season 2 next fall.

Such a quick renewal for a second season certainly makes Sleepy Hollow the first success story of the fall. It could also help attract even more viewers since it means it isn't going anywhere, unlike other new shows which may die out soon.

Sleepy Hollow airs Mondays at 9pm on FOX.
