As Claire Fisher on HBO's
Six Feet Under, Lauren Ambrose was known as the youngest child of Nathaniel and Ruth Fisher (Frances Conroy). Exposed to the family-run mortuary, she grew up with vivid fantasies and visions of dead people, just like other characters on the show. Although the most creative in the family, she was considered as rebellious and struggled with drugs and bad relationships. In the final montage of the show, it was suggested that she became a photographer and a teacher who ended up marrying Ted Fairwell (Chris Messina) before passing away in 2085. At present, the 29-year-old actress already has a son with photographer husband Sam Handel and still remains active in the entertainment industry with her upcoming projects.
This year, the former
Six Feet Under actress will star alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor in the movie
Tonight at Noon. Based on Jonathan Lethem's short story, the film explores what's lost and what's gained when two people fall in love.
Moreover, she'll be seen with Jeff Bridges in George LaVoo's directorial debut project,
A Dog Year. Expected for release in January 2008, the story centers on a man who takes in a dog that's crazier than he is at the height of his midlife crisis.
On the small screen, she will be part of the series
The Return of Jezebel James, a sitcom created by Amy Sherman-Palladino (
Gilmore Girls). The series features Ambrose as the estranged younger sister of lead star Parker Posey, whom she asks to carry her baby. The show is tentatively scheduled to air every Wednesday at 8:30/7:30c on FOX as a mid-season replacement in 2008.
Six Feet Under positively opened many doors for Lauren Ambrose. Aside from several Emmy nominations for her role on the critically acclaimed drama, she also acquired many movie projects like
Diggers, Starting Out in the Evening, and made her mark on Broadway with theater productions of
Awake and Sing! and
Romeo and Juliet.
