Hope Davis was named 2003 Best Actress of the Year by the New York Film Critics Circle for her work in two of the year's most critically acclaimed independent features, "American Splendor" and "The Secret Lives of Dentists." She won a Golden Globe Award nomination for her portrayal of Joyce Brabner, the fiercely intelligent, sardonic wife and collaborator to Paul Giamatti's Harvey Pekar in "American Splendor" (LA Film Critics' Best Picture of 2003). A fixture on 2003 Top 10 lists, "American Splendor" captured the Grand Jury Prize -- Dramatic Competition at Sundance; and the Grand Jury Prize in Montreal's Just for Laughs Festival. Hope portrays Laura in the TV series “Six Degrees.” Laura is a recently widowed mother who's raising a young daughter. She's picked up the pieces and is ready to start anew. With the support of friends and her new nanny, Mae, Laura decides to forge ahead with a new career and perspective on life.
