After rumors surfaced last week that Real Housewives of Atlanta star Sheree Whitfield had been fired from the show, Sheree confirmed to WetPaint that she would be leaving the show. However, she insisted it was of her own volition and not from being fired.

"After four solid seasons of helping Bravo build the show into its most successful Housewives franchise, I have decided to leave," Sheree said. "The direction the show is going in is no longer a fit for my lifestyle. I'm tired of the fighting and the cattiness."

While her decision to leave the show may have been her own, her claim that she "helped build the show" is, to put it lightly, bogus. Sheree Whitfield is not even close to being a household name, especially when arguably the biggest break-out star (with the exception of Bethenny Frankel) of the franchise, NeNe Leakes, is on RHOA.

Sheree also tried to dispel rumors of being fired at the Bravo Upfronts before the Watch What Happens Live special by saying she missed the event because she was on vacation in Puerto Rico with her family.

"I want to be part of something that empowers and inspires women to not only be healthy, but to treat themselves with respect," Sheree said. "I wish the rest of the women the best of luck. I'm thrilled to say I'm now a free agent and am already fielding offers."

During this past season of RHOA, Sheree battled with her ex-husband, former NFL player Bob Whitfield, for her owed child support. She was also asked by co-star Kim Zolciak to be a bridesmaid at her wedding during the season finale, so it is likely we will see a cameo by Sheree on Kim's new show Don't Be Tardy for the Wedding.

"Yes it is official, I'm leaving Real Housewives of Atlanta," Sheree tweeted today. "I enjoyed my time working with everyone affiliated with the show."

Unfortunately for fans this means we'll never get to see the finished "Chateau Sheree," but it's probably unlikely that anyone else will get to see it finished either...
