Shear Genius Inks Deal with Nexxus, Host Reveals First Challenge
Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Shear GeniusAs Bravo reality show Shear Genius gears up for second season, the styling competition signs a deal with Nexxus Salon Hair Care to be show’s ‘fully integrated sponsor.’  Bravo made this announcement a few days before the kick-off of Shear Genius’ highly anticipated second season.

“The fully integrated partnership includes exclusive in-show brand integration, on-air sponsorship and customized vignettes,” the press release said.  “The Nexxus brand will be fully integrated into the show with a branded set, complete with the ‘Shear Genius Nexxus Salon.’  There will be a Nexxus branded challenge in the show and the stylists will solely use Nexxus products during the series.  They are also the prizing partner for the series, with the winner receiving $100,000 furnished by Nexxus Salon Hair Care and an apprenticeship with the company.

The premiere of Shear Genius’ second season will air on Wednesday June 25th at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. A lmost everything will be the same, as Jaclyn Smith will remain the host.  Celebrity stylist Kim Vo and Allure editor Kelly Atterton will judge the contestants, while Rene Fris will be the contestants' mentor.

Meanwhile, Smith announced that the first challenge of this season’s batch of contestant is to cut hair blind-folded.  As if this wasn’t nerve-wracking enough, she further revealed that a fellow Charlie’s Angel will drop by for a challenge.  Smith is part of the original trio, alongside Farrah Fawcett and Kate Jackson.

“You will be surprised when you see it," Smith promised.  "We recreate our styles from the '70s with a modern touch.  I thought it was challenging, because you think the simplicity of those styles. I think having some 'Angels' there was intimidating to some of the stylists.  I think it was harder for them than just recreating [the hair styles] because we were there."
