Shark: Former Jeri Ryan Stalker Faces New Raps, Henry Simmons to Play Film Title Role
Sunday, September 09, 2007

"Jeri Ryan"A man convicted of once stalking Shark star, Jeri Ryan, during her days as the sultry Seven of Nine on Star Trek: Voyager is once again in the headlines.  This time, he finds himself in hot water for threatening an entire wrestling team.

Twenty-nine year old Marlon Pagtakhan of Burlingame, California was taken into custody last August 11 for allegedly going to the All Pro Wrestling studio in Hayward, screaming at some of the wrestlers and challenging them to a fight.  Pagtakhan, formerly a student of the All Pro Wrestling club, had previously sent sinister text and instant messages to six wrestlers there.  He had also been pestering a female wrestler known as “MsChif” for a year. Pagtakhan now faces 14 counts of stalking and three counts of felony threats.

In 2001, Pagtakhan was convicted in Los Angeles of stalking, extortion and posting threatening online messages for his actions against actress Jeri Ryan and her then boyfriend and Star Trek: Voyager producer/writer, Brannon Braga.  He received 248 days in prison and five years on probation.  He was prohibited from making any further contact with Ryan and Braga during that time as well as from using the internet.  Pagtakhan was re-incarcerated for two years after he violated his probation.  Pagtakhan could wind up locked away for 13 years if found guilty of all the 14 new charges against him.

In more pleasant news, another Shark star is set to play the title role of Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton in the film, Sweetwater.  The movie is based on the life of the first African-American to ever to play on an NBA team.   Sweetwater also stars Academy Award-winner Richard Dreyfuss as Harlem Globetrotters founder, Abe Saperstein.  Saperstein had coached Nat Clifton prior to selling his contract to the New York Knicks in 1950.

Both Ryan and Simmons will be back when Shark returns with its second season on September 23 at 10pm eastern.
