Showtime's
current Sunday night line-up received plenty of good news today. Amid
record-setting ratings, the cable network has renewed
Shameless,
House of Lies and
Californication.
Shameless was picked up for season 4 after just three episodes of its current third season have aired. The season 3 premiered scored 2 million viewers, the show's best performance ever, and the third episode of the season matched that total.
Shameless centers on the group of wildly out-of-control latchkey kids of the Gallagher family held together by the overworked eldest sister Fiona (Emmy Rossum).
Californication, the network's oldest comedy still on the air, was picked up for an impressive seventh season. The show about a writer (David Duchovny) and his booze-fueled antics scored over 1 million viewers for its season 6 premiere, its best performance in two years.
House of Lies was picked up for season 3. The comedy starring Don
Cheadle and Kristen Bell saw its recent season 2 premiere pull in 1.2
million viewers, its highest-rated episode yet. The show has also won
acclaim, scoring an Emmy nomination and Golden Globe win for star Don
Cheadle.
The success of all three of Showtime's Sunday night shows is even more impressive as they're up against strong competition including football,
Downton Abbey, HBO's Golden Globr-winning
Girls,
The Good Wife,
The Mentalist,
Family Guy,
Revenge, etc.
Showtime's Sunday night line-up begins at 9pm with
Shameless followed by
House of Lies at 10pm and
Californication at 10:30pm. They are all taking a break this week due to the Super Bowl but return with new episodes February 10.
