Jerry Seinfeld attracted much attention for playing a semi-fictional version of himself on the award-winning program
Seinfeld. Inspired by the 1950s sitcom
The Abbott and Costello Show, he co-created, starred and executively produced the series, which acquired 3 Golden Globe awards, 57 wins and 114 nominations from various award-giving bodies.
Following
Seinfeld, he went on tour and recorded a comedy special entitled
I’m Telling You for the Last Time, which featured a few of his standup performances. He returned to standup comedy and developed a documentary called
Comedian. He also appeared in two web commercials promoting American Express Credit Cards, and on shows like
Saturday Night Live and
The Daily Show. Furthermore, he wrote a children’s book entitled
Halloween and wrote the foreword to the
Peanut Butter @ Co. Cookbook. Recently, he served as a presenter at The 79th Academy Awards.
At present, Seinfeld is working on his film debut with Dreamworks’ animated movie entitled
Bee Movie. Slated for release in early November, the movie features the main character Barry B. Benson, a bee voiced by Seinfeld, who discovers that humans are stealing the honey from his hive. Directed by Steve Hickner and Simon Smith, the movie also features the voice of Renée Zellweger, Matthew Broderick, John Goodman and Chris Rock.
