Biography

Comedian Malcolm-Jamal Warner was born on August 18, 1970 in Jersey City, New Jersey.  He was named after both Black Muslim minister Malcolm X and legendary jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal.  His parents divorced and he was raised solely by his mother Pamela Warner.  He took an interest in show business when he was just nine years old and this prompted him to attend acting schools.  He attended New York's Professional Children's School and Agelus Mesa Elementary School.  His mother Pamela acted as his manager.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner is most famous for his role as Theo Huxtable on NBC's sitcom The Cosby Show.  His performance got him nominated for the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series Award at the 1986 Emmy Awards.  In 1990, he won Best Young Actor Supporting Role in a TV series at the Young Artist Awards.

His other TV appearances were on shows Fame, Malcolm & Eddie, Jeremiah, Listen Up and on Dexter to name a few.  His voice was lent to Lester Biggs on Static Shock, to Rusty on Legend of the Candy Cane and to the producer on the Magic School Bus.

His film credits include Drop Zone, A Fare to Remember, Restaurant, Fools Gold and Contradictions of the Heart among many others.  In 1990, he directed the short film This Old Man.

In 2003, he won on Celebrity Poker Showdown and defeated players Jesse Metcalfe, Heather Graham, Fred Willard and Andrea Parker.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner He was on the 32nd spot in VH1's list of "100 Greatest Kid Stars."

He was seen on the advertisements for Kool Aid and TV Land Network.  He was also part of the music videos "Funky Beat" by Whodini and "Liberian Girl" by Michael Jackson.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner is a contestant on CBS' reality TV series Secret Talents of the Stars , a show that pits celebrities against each other as they showcase their hidden abilities.  Warner's hidden talent is performing an original song on bass guitar as part of a Hip Hop Orchestra.
