Dr. Quentin Q. Quinn appears in the Cartoon Network Adult Swim animated series Sealab 2021, parodying the original Hanna-Barbera cartoon Sealab 2020. He is the token black guy of the series, yet is also the only one in the deranged crew with any brains and common sense. Quinn has an IQ of 260, and actually went through a formal education, unlike the rest of his cohorts. His qualifications and sensibility provide stark contrast to his surroundings, and he often winds up having to run the entire research station and cover for everyone else. He also sleeps regularly with Debbie in an off-again, on-again relationship.

When Quinn was a boy, he was sick with a terminal illness, and thus was forced to transplant his human brain into a robotic replica of his original body, making him a cyborg. He usually finds himself caught up in the Sealab’s dilemmas, such as saving everyone from an invisible monster on a killing spree, and getting caught in a 15-minute time warp where the lab keeps blowing up. At one point, when Captain Murphy declares “Martian Law,” Quinn is blamed by everyone for numerous thefts that have occurred. Another time, he’s rendered comatose and seems to have switched brains with Stormy.
