The strike may have put many television actors out of work, but Scrubs
star John C. McGinley
is busy fulfilling a new role.
On Saturday, February 2, McGinley and yoga-instructor wife Nichole Kessler, welcomed their first child together, a baby girl by the name of Billie Grace. The eight-pound, 21-inch-long bundle of joy was born at 1:36am in a birthing tub at the couple's Malibu home with the aid of a midwife.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
"Nichole was a mountain lion, a warrior in the birthing process," John McGinley, who plays Dr. Perry Cox on Scrubs
, told People
magazine in an exclusive interview. "The birth was astonishing! Mom and baby girl are 100 percent. Billie is a mini-Nichole! Thank God!"
Kessler, meanwhile, had this to say about the monumental life-experience: "We are all happy and healthy at home and enjoying these precious first moments of life together."
John C. McGinley and Kessler met nearly four years ago while he and Max, his son from a previous marriage, were on a beach trip. The two were married last April in a private ceremony in Malibu, attended by a small group of family and friends.
While it was the second marriage for McGinley, it was the first for Keller, who teaches Ashtanga yoga and is also a birthing doula, an experienced non-medical assistant in births and prenatal care.
Meanwhile, McGinley's first wife, Lauren Lambert, to whom he was married for almost four years, is reportedly upset with the actor for cutting down monthly child support payments worth $9000. The reduction is due to the ongoing WGA strike, which has shut down production on Scrubs
' seventh and final season.
According to Lynn Soodik, John C. McGinley's attorney, her client is just following a court order that allows him to lessen the amount of the payments at times when the NBC medical comedy is not being filmed.
