Scrubs: New Season 8 Promo Hits ABC
Scrubs: New Season 8 Promo Hits ABC
Scrubs will return this January to ABC, and it will almost certainly be the final season of the long-running hospital comedy.  At the very least, Zach Braff and Judy Reyes will not return.  Executive producer and show runner Bill Lawrence has left open the possibility for a ninth season that would prominently feature a new batch of interns.  The show would basically become Scrubs: The New Class.  Whether fans are clamoring for something like this remains to be seen.  In the last week or so, ABC has finally unleashed a new promo for Scrubs season 8, and it contains the first footage of season 8 that we've yet seen.  The promo is only thirty seconds long, but it's got a couple of cool little scenes on display.  You can check out the embedded video below.

A couple of things worth noting:

JD has facial hair!  It's kind of pathetic facial hair too, which leads me to believe that it will be a plot point (or, at the least, an ignitor of many jokes at JD's expense).  Or, maybe Zach Braff really wanted to grow some facial hair.

We got our first glimpse of Courtney Cox on Scrubs.  She looks pretty funny in the couple of scenes, and you can get an idea of why Bill Lawrence wanted to work with her on the new comedy Cougar Town which should hit screens next Fall.

ABC really needs to get the word out that the series has moved from NBC.  I watched the promo live on ABC with some friends, all of whom had no idea that a) Scrubs was still on TV and b) that it had moved to ABC.  Come on, ABC – give Scrubs a chance.  The series has been too good to just let it peter out.  It deserves better.
