Competing for a break-out role in the Lionsgate film Saw VI, ten unknown actresses will try their luck on VH1's Scream Queens.  The series premiered last week, October 20, with the aspiring stars being introduced to their first challenge.  Since one was already eliminated, nine remain to prove that they have the talent and strength to be credited in a horror flick.  It's not just any movie too, it's the million-dollar Saw franchise that gained worldwide fame.

Tonight on Scream Queens, the ladies have been evaluated based on the first impressions they made last time.  Shawnee Smith and casting director Kelly Wagner send two girls off for makeovers, and a movie-poster shoot takes place as their challenge.  The more difficult thing is, the contestants are required to sell a movie with just one photo.

The girls of Scream Queens will be trained and judged by three big names in the industry.  The first of which is James Gunn, writer/director/producer of films like Dawn of the Dead and Slither, and will be directing the girls through their acting challenges.  Next is the star of the Saw franchise, Shawnee Smith.  From her, the aspiring ladies will get the perspective of a real Scream Queen as she takes on the role of their mentor.  Finally, John Homa retains his title as Hollywood's toughest acting coach with his domineering and hopefully effective style.  Homa is going to force the women to face their inner demons, as well as their on-screen ones. 

On the last episode, it was Jo-Ann who was sent home.  Before the elimination, Shawnee Smith told the girls about how it would be like on the show.  “One of you will become a star.  The rest of you will be cut from the competition, one-by-one and go back to waiting tables and open casting calls and dreaming about your big break instead of living it,” she explained. 

Their first challenge required them to improve a scene with their ax-wielding partner.  They had to plead their lives, without a script, and convince the slasher not to kill them.  Following this is John Homa's acting lesson, since the judges agreed that none of the girls seemed to have what it takes.  Homa orders the contestants to seductively eat a piece of fruit.  Even though their coach fumed at the results, he continued by telling them to go from seductive to scared. 

On the first Director's challenge, the girls are asked to read a scene from Slither, which found them on a tub and confronted by a real snake between their legs.  Five of the ladies are summoned later, with Michelle and Sarah comprising the top two.  Sarah becomes the Leading Lady of the night, and Jo-Ann is sent home for her inability to really perform.

Scream Queens returns tonight on VH1 at 10pm.
