Saving Hope is the latest brainchild of Gemini Award-winning producers Ilana Frank and David Wellington, the tandem behind the procedural drama Rookie Blue. The show is essentially a medical drama that revolves around a group of doctors at Toronto's Hope-Zion Hospital, peppered with supernatural elements and of course, romance.
What to Expect from Saving Hope Season 1:
Stargate Atlantis actor Michael Shanks takes the lead on Saving Hope as Charlie Harris, the Chief of Surgery at Toronto's Hope-Zion Hospital. He ends up in a coma after a car accident, leaving his fiance and fellow doctor Alex Ried devastated and the hospital in disarray. Alex, who is played by Smallville actress Erica Durance, desperately tries to save Harris' life with the help of newly-arrived surgeon Joel Goran, played by Daniel Gillies of The Vampire Diaries. While these doctors are struggling with Harris' condition and the complicated day to day operations at the hospital, Harris wanders the hallways of Hope-Zion in "spirit" form.
The cast also includes Julia Taylor Ross, Huse Madhavji and Kristopher Turner.
Saving Hope premieres Thursday, June 7 at 10/9c on NBC.
