TNT recently announced that they will be renewing their highly successful series,
Saving Grace for a third season, which is set to air late next year. The show, which stars Academy-Award winner
Holly Hunter in her first television series, will be returning with the second half of season two in March 2009.
The TNT drama follows Oklahoma City police detective Grace Hanadarko, a loving aunt and family person who enjoys smoking, binge drinking and having one night stands. After accidentally running over a person, she meets Earl, who claims to be her angel and delivers the news--she is going straight to hell. Ironically, as he disappears, her victim also disappears, leaving only a trace of blood on her shirt. She later finds out that the victim is an inmate on death row, who also gets visits from Earl.
Saving Grace also stars
Leon Rippy,
Kenneth Johnson,
Bailey Chase,
Bokeem Woodbine,
Gregory Cruz and Dylan Minnette, with Lorraine Toussaint and
Laura San Giacomo.
"In
Saving Grace, Holly Hunter and creator Nancy Miller have fashioned one of television's most complex and compelling characters," senior vice president in charge of the Content Creation Group for TNT, TBS and TCM Michael Wright said. "Few series on television are as daring as this one, and we're thrilled to be welcoming it back for another outstanding season."
This summer, Saving Grace was able to average 4.4 million viewers. The network soon decided to give the show a 15-episode third season order.
"We are proud to continue our relationship with TNT and grateful for their gracious (pun intended) support," said David Madden, executive vice president of programming for Fox Television Studios. "This is a remarkable series with an extraordinary group of talented people making it, and we look forward to a long life."
