TNT's
Saving Grace will be coming off the air after tonight's broadcast, but fans need not worry as the show is only set to take a break. According to the cable network, the episode will have the squad investigating a murder of a young woman who was tortured by her killer. The circumstances surrounding the murder remind Grace (
Holly Hunter) of a crime that took place 11 years ago.
Meanwhile, Rhetta (
Laura San Giacomo) begins to believe that the objects Earl (
Leon Rippy) leaves behind for Grace when he comes to visit her might have some hidden meaning. As a result, Rhetta decides to investigate what the meaning might be, and pays a visit to death-row inmate Leon Cooley (
Bokeem Woodbine) to see if Earl left anything for him. As she puts things together, she comes across a shocking revelation. However, Rhetta is not the only one who encounters a surprise.
According to series creator Nancy Miller, there are also some big things in store for the show's protagonist.
"Earl [Leon Rippy] tells Grace something about God's plan for her that's very surprising," Miller told
TV Guide, adding that the remaining episodes of
Saving Grace's first season will present more challenges for Hunter's Grace. "The road is going to get bumpy. There's a challenge for Grace in each of the remaining four episodes. The last is the biggest shock of all. I wrote it, and even I don't know what Grace is going to do."
Saving Grace is a drama series that revolves around an Oklahoma City police officer whose guardian angel helps her to get her life on track. It debuted on TNT in July, drawing in 6.4 million viewers. Although its fan base has not increased in number following its premiere, the show has averaged a respectable figure of 5.5 million viewers.
No dates have been set for the four remaining episodes of the first season, but the summer finale, "Language of Angels," airs tonight at 10pm on TNT. The show has been picked up for a second season.
