After a groundbreaking season one for TNT's Saving Grace, the provocative original series starring Oscar winner Holly Hunter returns tonight, July 14, at 10pm.

The season opener for Saving Grace is a rather dramatic one, taking from the harsh cliffhanger that closed the previous season.  A testament to the immense depth and maturity (untamed comes to mind) of this program, the last episode saw Grace Hanadarko (Hunter) finally locating the priest who molested her when she was a kid retired and living in Tulsa.  Saving Grace fans obviously could not wait to see how Grace dealt with this little complicated scenario.

Warning: Minor spoilers ahead.

“Have a Seat Earl,” the first episode in the second season, opens with Grace chasing an armed man, who is reportedly one of the FBI's most wanted.  The guy shoots at her but instead of running the opposite direction or dock, Grace runs straight at him.  In the chase, a police dog is hurt.  The other story arc revolves around the said priest who molested Grace.

Grace kidnaps the priest and decides to hold him against his will at her house.  Really pissed, she is uncertain on how to deal with the situation.  The rest, you just have to see it for yourselves.

Receiving almost universally positive reviews for being unconventional and a breath of fresh air, Saving Grace is often seen as raw and untamed.  It's been praised for in-your-face storylines and the wonderful characterization of Grace, who, unlike the conventional hero, is clearly flawed and admittedly dark.  Sure, it might be hard to relate to a skillful, alcoholic cop who constantly has to do battle with her inner demons with the help of an angel, but something about Grace makes you want to root her. It is realistic and intriguing, and it works.
