Some things exist not only because they're delightful in their own right, but because they make everything better with their presence.

Bacon and Betty White are among these things.

You see, from our vantage point, bacon and Betty White make everything better. And a simple timeline confirms this truth.

BACON.jpgCut to 2006: the year of bacon. It was the year that bacon stepped out of the breakfast shadows and into its rightful place of glory: everywhere. The world was blessed with bacon ice cream, Bacon Salt, bacon in chocolate, Bacon tattoos, quadruple Bacon burgers, bacon novelty items (band-aids, mints, dental floss) and Battle Bacon on Iron Chef America.

BettyWhiteSuperBowl.jpgCut to 2010: the year of  Betty White. Sure, before her breakout Super Bowl performance, we loved her in bit parts on shows like Boston Legal and movies like The Proposal. Since her appearance in a Super Bowl Snickers commercial, Betty's popularity has only picked up speed.

First came a successful online petition to have her host Saturday Night Live, followed by news that she'll take to the SNL stage on May 8. She now battles the paparazzi like a young, hot starlet, she's signed on for a full season of new sitcom Hot in Cleveland, and she's made the rounds on late night talk shows. Betty is so popular now; she's even turning down offers, including the lucrative and hugely popular Dancing With the Stars.
