You can rap on the door of
Run's House now, as the series opens once again for a new season. MTV returns with its hip hop family this Wednesday, July 16 at 10pm ET/PT, bringing us more of the unconventional life lessons of
Rev. Run, also known as Joseph Simmons, and his family. The reality series shows what lies behind the family's showbiz facades, revealing a wacky family that's still grounded in their faith and ties to each other.
Season 5 will feature additional twists in the series, especially with the Simmons' new adopted daughter Miley. She makes quite an impression on her parents and siblings, and will surely get the sibling rivalry going in terms of cuteness. With the expansion of the family, the jokes and fun will definitely increase.
Rev. Run relives his glory days in this season. He tours with his friend Kid Rock, while his wife,
Justine Simmons, keeps the house running in Saddle River. While there, she has to watch as her sons
Diggy and
Russy Simmons embrace their new roles. Diggy, now a tween, glides into the stages of adolescence by developing a passion for skateboarding. Meanwhile, Russy realizes he is no longer the family's baby, and begins to take on the job of being Miley's big brother.
Out of the house, Vanessa and
Angela Simmons settle into their bicoastal lifestyles, traveling between Los Angeles and New York City. Both of them are working almost as hard as
JoJo Simmons, now focusing on college. JoJo, the eldest son, is also involved in his quest for conquest through music. His rap group, Team Blackout, constantly tries to take hold of the limelight.
The new season of
Run's House will surely be full of exciting new changes, without damaging the humor that arises from it. In 2008, it won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Reality series. It has also been credited for its family values and Rev. Run's ability to balance being a father and a music icon.
Run's House will be shown on MTV on Thursdays, 10pm ET/PT.
