Run's House: Rev. Run Launches Own Sneakers
Angela Simmons and
Vanessa Simmons aren't the only
Run's House cast members who have come up with their own shoe business. In fact, their father
Rev. Run, also known as Joseph Simmons in real life, has recently released his new sneaker called Icon.
Hundreds of hip-hop fans and sneaker lovers lined up in front of Footaction on May 14 at Manhattan's 34th street and 7th avenue to meet the legendary rapper and the star of
Run's House, who launched his new sneaker and signed autographs for fans of all ages.
Icon was inspired the
Run's House star's legacy and his 2007 BMI Icon Award. The shoe, which has a look reminiscent of the classic Adidas Shell Toe, marries a classic, casual attitude with fresh color waves.
Following the unveiling of Icon, Rev. Run headed over to Madison Square Garden and performed his own set at the Kid Rock concert and, as expected, jammed onstage with Kid Rock.
Based on the success of his daughter's Pastry sneakers collection, many are expecting Rev. Run's Icon to fly off the shelves as well.
This isn't the first time Rev. Run has released a sneaker. The
Run's House star's clothing line, Run Athletics, has been releasing casual sneakers for years. Under the leadership of its president, Rasheed Young, Run Athletics has become a staple of urban lifestyle mixing the old school with the new school.
To find out more about Rev. Run and his family, catch
Run's House when it returns for a fifth season on MTV. The reality series focuses on the former Run-DMC member turned reverend as he lives with his wife
Justine Simmons, and children in his mansion, and go through all the fun and hard times a family goes through. Meanwhile, fans can also catch episodes of seasons 1 to 3 of
Run's House on DVD.
