Run's House: Angela and Vanessa Supporting Girl Scouts
Share This Share this
Throughout the past few seasons of Run's House, we've watched as Angela Simmons and Vanessa Simmons follow in the footsteps of father Rev. Run (Joseph Simmons) and uncle Russell Simmons by developing multiple careers in the publishing, entertainment and fashion industries.

Now, they are also following in their footsteps in philanthropy. As the two young women grow their own careers, they are working with the Girl Scouts to encourage other young women to pursue their ambitions as well.

This Thursday's episode of Run's House will follow the girls as they first meet with the Girl Scouts organization as they try to figure out how best to give back to the community. They arrive at contributing to the Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy Programs at Girl Scouts, which is definitely appropriate for the young businesswomen.

The press release for the episode quotes Vanessa as saying, "There is a real lack of people encouraging young ladies to be leaders. Promoting entrepreneurship and financial literacy is important. Girls need to be business-minded so we have more female leaders in the world." Angela also contributed, "And starting now is the best thing girls can do. Selling cookies is a business and you develop those entrepreneurial skills at a young age."

The CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA, Kathy Cloninger says, "It's hard to find positive images for girls in the mainstream media "That's why we are proud to partner with the Simmons family. Vanessa and Angela Simmons have demonstrated what being a positive role model is all about. We hope they will encourage other young professionals to volunteer at the Girl Scouts- whether it's once a month, on weekends, or whatever your schedule allows. Our girls need role models and positive mentors like Vanessa and Angela in their lives."
