Heather Locklear Set to Test 'Rules of Engagement'

The already tumultuous lives of five friends become even more interesting with the inclusion of veteran television siren Heather Locklear on Rules of Engagement.   The actress, who rose to prominence on long-running, popular '80s and '90s shows such as Dynasty, T.J. Hooker and Melrose Place, has just signed on for at least two seasons with the comedy that airs on CBS.

The actress, who turns 46 on September 25, the day after Rules of Engagement returns to television, will portray the role of Barbara, sister of Audrey, Megyn Price's character. When Barbara visits her sister, she announces that her marriage, which Audrey has always admired and looked up to, appears to be coming to an end. An already confused and distraught Audrey becomes even more startled when Barbara winds up going out with Audrey's bachelor friend, Russell, played by David Spade.

What makes Locklear's scheduled appearances on the sitcom more interesting is her reunion with Spade, who was rumored to be her beau some time ago. The two were often seen and photographed together last year, not long after Heather Locklear's split from then husband, Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi fame. Neither Spade nor Locklear ever admitted having anything more than friendship and Locklear has since found company in former Melrose Place co-star, Jack Wagner.

Although best known for playing the sultry and scheming villainess Amanda Woodward on Aaron Spelling and Darren Star's Melrose Place, Heather Locklear has recently done more lighthearted and comedic fare. She appeared as Caitlin Moore on Spin City and has also guest-starred on Scrubs and Two and a Half Men.

The second season of Rules of Engagement begins on September 24 at 9:30pm. David Spade and Megyn Price return along with fellow mainstays, Oliver Hudson, Bianca Kajlich and Patrick Warburton.
