Rome is a historical drama filmed in Italy depicting the period of the torturous Roman Republic and its transformation into the Roman Empire. The show also gives light to the civil warfare among conservatives and populists as well as political issues during the historic time.
Apart from the historical perspective of the plot, the show Rome also focuses on the lives of rich and powerful families, as well as the two Roman soldiers, Lucius Vorenus (Kevin McKidd) and Titus Pullo (Ray Stevenson). In addition, the series entails themes of romance, betrayal and slavery. Other cast includes Gaius Julius Caesar (Ciarán Hinds), Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus (Kenneth Cranham), Atia of the Julii (Polly Walker), Marcus Antonius (James Purefoy), and Marcus Junius Brutus (Tobias Menzies) to name a few.
