Toby Rand was popularly known for his exposure on the competitive reality series Rock Star: Supernova.  Although he lost to Canadian performer Lukas Rossi for a spot on the supergroup Supernova, he remains active in the rock circuit with his Australian-rooted band, Juke Kartel.

At present, the 29-year-old singer, along with his band mates Todd Burman, Dale Winters Tommy Kende and Eddie Murphy, are working on their album, which is scheduled for release this year.  The single "Throw It Away," which was created with his band prior to the show and performed by Rand on Rock Star: Supernova, is expected to be available on October 17.

With his distinct voice, stage presence and amalgam of rock influences, Rand became noted for his onstage antics and became notorious around Melbourne's underground music scene.

After his stint on Rock Star: Supernova, Rand hit the road with his band to participate on the Chemical Dreaming tour.  They also joined the Rock Star: Supernova tour, which gave them massive exposure and the opportunity to perform in colossal venues.  The tour spanned the U.S., Canada, and continued on to finish in Australia and New Zealand, where they got a huge homecoming welcome.  Moreover, Juke Kartel was also called to perform at the 2007 Astra Awards and the Australian 2007 MTV Video Awards.

Most recently, they headlined at the Australian launch of Make Poverty History 2007 in an effort to raise awareness on poverty.  The free open-air all ages concert also featured performances by Seany B – Dirt Laundry and Jaime Robbie Reyne and the Paradise 3.
