Matt Hoffer was born in Denver and raised in New York. Previously, he worked as a real estate broker. Upon realizing his dream, he quit his job and pursued a career as a musician. As a child, he obsessively practiced with his guitar. Eventually, he opened for popular bands like Vertical Horizon, Grace Porter and the Nocturnals and The Smithereens.

Moreover, he became part of the reality television show Rock Star: Supernova as one of the contestants. Sadly, his performance of "Planet Earth" by Duran Duran got him eliminated on week 1.
