Sam Troughton is a British actor born in 1977. He is the son of actor David Troughton, grandson of Doctor Who actor Patrick Troughton and older brother to Warwickshire cricketer Jim Troughton. Troughton took up drama at Hull University and graduated in 1998. He is a skilled Shakespearean actor whose portrayal of Young Talbot in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Henry VI earned him a nomination for the 2001 Ian Charleson Award for outstanding performance by a young actor in a classical theater role. Troughton has appeared in fright films such as Spirit Trap and Alien vs. Predator before being cast as Much in the series Robin Hood.

Much, played by Sam Troughton on Robin Hood, provides much of the comic relief on the show as Robin Hood’s often witless, manservant sidekick. He is faithful, loyal and always by Robin’s side, whether he wants to be or not. He does not enjoy being in the forest and he is perpetually hungry and homesick.
