Jonas Armstrong was born January 1, 1981 in Dublin, Ireland but grew up in St. Annes in Lancashire, England. He studied at Arnold School in Blackpool. He participated in many school plays during his time at Arnold under the helm of drama director Colin Snell. Armstrong graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2003. He starred in their stagings of Twelfth Night, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Ulysses and The Crucible. Armstrong is also certified in stage combat by The British Academy of Stage & Screen Combat. His television credits include The Ghost Squad, Losing Gemma and his most famous role to date, as the title character in Robin Hood.

Robin Hood
, played by Jonas Armstrong in the series of the same name, has just returned from a five-year term as member of the King’s Guard in the Third Crusade. Upon his return, he gains a new perspective on fairness, justice and the value of human life. He is an atypical hero with an occasional dark side. He is often arrogant and bold yet selfless and principled.
