Road Rules: Viewers Revenge

MTV Reality
Exclusive Interview with Susie Meister of Road Rules: Viewers Revenge: Part 2

Overall how would you say your experience on Viewers Revenge so far compares with your time on Road Rules: Australia?

Well I’m sort of a big Road Rules purist.  I liked the seasons before they started voting people off and it became a little bit more of a game.  Because my experience, we didn’t do it for the money, we didn’t really win anything, we won eventually a free trip to an awesome place and the opportunity to do amazing things.  And I sort of like it like that better because people do it for the right reasons and you don’t have to back-stab your friends and plot against them to be here in the end so while I’m having a great time and I hope to continue competing each week to win the big bucks, it’s totally different from my first experience.

What would you say has been the funniest moment for you this season?

The funniest moment…Kina what’s the funniest moment?  I’m here with Tory and Kina.  We’re had moments of just like total delirious laughter.  A lot of funny moments happen like at bedtime because we have six adults sleeping within 20 feet of each other and it just breeds hilarity.  The last mission we did, which will air tomorrow night, I won’t give it away, but we competing in a mission that was just totally amusing to me and I was trying to stay focused on the mission but I kept laughing throughout the whole thing because sometimes you have these out of body experiences where you realize what you’re doing for money.  I swear, I now see why greed it one of the Seven Deadly Sins because it’s amazing what people are willing to do for a little bit of money.  So I can’t pick out one in particular but this whole season has been very amusing for me.

When you guys aren’t filming, how do you guys spend your time?

Um, well we’re still all together and you know we’re just trying to rest and prepare for the missions because even though this season is a little different because of the way taping is and because of the live element, we’re still always aware of the game and getting ready to compete again and it’s a little bit stressful not knowing each week whether you’re going to go into the pit and whether you know, you’re going to be here in the end.  We have a lot of fun and we laugh a lot but we’re always cognizant of the fact that we might be gone next week.

What would you say has been the most challenging thing you’ve done so far this season?

Oh, hands down, the last episode that was on, the marine training.  I was um…I had a breakdown.  Luckily they didn’t show it but I just could not believe how hard it was.  There was an entire day that never aired where we did training and I had just flown across the country to compete in the pit and the time difference, jet lag and just flying over night and lack of sleep and then up in the high altitude.  I could go on and on about all the reasons I was totally having a breakdown but I was like, “I don’t know how I’m going to get through this, I don’t know how I’m going to get through this show, I don’t know if I’m going to be here in the end.”  But the rest of my team was there for me and was just like, “It’s okay, everything’s going to be okay.”  And then you know I feel much better now but somebody else might be having a bad week so we sort of take turns but we get each other through it. But I would say that that marine cold blooded training might be the hardest mission that I’ve ever experienced so far.

So what can fans expect from you for the remainder of the season?

I think the game’s going to change a lot.  I think we were entering into the second half of the show so I just think that a lot of the volunteering and you know playing it nice might start to fade a little bit in favor of you know more cut throat strategies because I’ve gone through all of these missions, I’ve put in all this time and worked so hard and been away from my husband and my family, I don’t want to have done all that for nothing.  So I’m really determined to stay, not matter how many times I have to go into the pit I’m going to really bring my A game.

I know you mentioned this a little bit earlier, that this might be your last stint with Road Rules, MTV, what are your plans then after the show?

My plan is to go to graduate school.  I’m going to get my PhD in religious studies.  So it’s like a new phase of my life and I’m excited about that too and I just really appreciate what Road Rules has brought to my life and it’s been so rewarding but I’m an old lady now and I think I’m going to move on to a different stage but I feel like I’m passing the torch to Tory because she’s only just begun.

Great.  Any final thoughts out there for your fans?

I just really appreciate that they voted me back after I went into the pit and gave it to Angel.  I was worried that they might think that I didn’t care about the game but it was just sort of a strategy that I had.  I was so grateful that the next opportunity they had, they voted me back and that meant a lot to me because I’ve been around for a while and they have some new options to choose from and I’m trying to do them justice and work really hard over the next few weeks to try to live up to that vote.
