NBC has just picked up what is sure to be one of the most eagerly anticipated potential new fall shows on the Internet. The network has ordered a pilot for The Revolution, an action series from Supernatural creator Eric Kripke produced by Lost's J.J. Abrams. That's combining two of the most fervent online fanbases into one.

The Revolution is described as an action thriller where characters struggle to survive and reconnect with their loved ones after all forms of energy are mysteriously erased from the world. That definitely sounds confusing, because does it really mean ALL forms of energy? Does fire still exist? Or wind or solar power?

The script will be written by Kripke, marking his first TV series since stepping down as Supernatural showrunner in 2010.

As for Abrams, it is yet another in a long series of projects he is producing with partner Bryan Burk. The two successfully brought Alcatraz on FOX and Person of Interest on CBS to TV this season, and this is their second pilot for next season. They're also working with One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn on his new CW drama, Shelter.

If history teaches us anything, it's that the way to succeed is to get a former Lost star to be in The Revolution. Michael Emerson is on Person of Interest and Jorge Garcia is on Alcatraz. Perhaps Josh Holloway might be available.

The worlds of Lost and Supernatural are quite similar, which should result in a good pairing for Kripke and Abrams. Both shows have rabid online followers and a number of key actors have appeared on the two dramas, including Mark Pellegrino (as Jacob and Lucifer), Titus Welliver (as the Man in Black and one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse) and Frederic Lehne (as Marshal Edwards Mars and the Yellow-Eyed Demon).

Will The Revolution make it on NBC this fall? We'll definitely be keeping a close eye on it.
