Remember The Count of Monte Cristo? It's the story of a young man named Edmond Dantes who was falsely imprisoned but later escaped and reinvented himself as the brooding Count in order to seek revenge to those who had betrayed him. In a nutshell, that's the premise behind ABC's new series, Revenge. This time, however, a mysterious woman in the form of Brothers and Sisters actress Emily VanCamp takes center stage -- adding a different kind of twist to the classic vengeful plot.
In Revenge season 1, we meet Emily Thorne (VanCamp), the newest addition to the sophisticated social circles of the Hamptons. She's pretty, generous and charming but as expected, there is more to Emily than meets the eye. Beneath her beautiful exterior is a dark agenda triggered by years of pain and agony over the loss of her father. When Emily was a little girl, her father was framed for a crime he didn't commit, sent to prison and was never seen since then. Now, Emily's all grown up and ready to return the Hamptons where she plans to seek revenge on the people who ruined her family, including the rich and powerful Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe).
Aside from exploring Emily's past, Revenge season 1 will shed light on some of the mysterious secrets plaguing the Hamptons' social circles. Viewers will also meet characters like Nolan Ross (Gabriel Mann), Conrad Grayson (Henry Czerny), Ashley Davenport (Ashley Madekwe), Daniel Grayson (Josh Bowman), Charlotte Grayson (Christa Allen) and Declan Porter (Connor Paolo).
The cast will also be joined by Max Martini, who is set to play a private investigator named Frank Saunders, Robbie Amell as rich student Adam who gets involved in a complicated love triangle with Charlotte and Declan, as well as Nikita actor Ashton Holmes, who plays Daniel Grayson's Harvard classmate.
Revenge season 1 begins Wednesday, September 21 at 19/9c on ABC.
