Things haven't gone pretty well for Tommy Gavin, hasn't it?  The current season of Rescue Me, which wraps up tonight, sees him being in between a rock and a hard place, sort of--one that floats questions about his friendships, his relationships, his priorities and himself.  He hasn't exactly kept off the bottle, either--can't blame him, not after slippery relationships, a missing sense of stability, and problems back at 62 Truck.

And then there are the rest: Franco with his conflicting viewpoints, Sean with his health problems, Mike with his bar.  Back home, there's Janet and Sheila, and I can't really figure out what's going on, save by saying that something is going on, and it isn't really good--why else would Tommy break?  He can only look for solace, but that's not exactly what's happening.

Tonight Rescue Me wraps up season number five with Tommy finding himself in another pickle again, as Janet and Sheila finds their plan backfiring, and leaving a trail of destruction behind, perhaps literally.  And Uncle Tommy finally breaks--he who tried to face everything with that nothing-much demeanor--and it leaves everyone reeling.  Something's gotta go wrong, I figure.  Maura Tierney guest stars again on the season finale of Rescue Me, airing tonight from 10pm on FX.  Oh, and... never mind.  I won't spoil.  But if tonight sets up the final 19 episodes of the show, well...
