Biography

Tony award-nominated actor Daniel Sunjata was born on December 30, 1971. The Evanston, Illinois native, who is of African American, Irish and German heritage, obtained a fine arts degree from the Tisch School of the Arts in NYU. He got a Theatre World Award in 2003 for his role in Take Me Out, which also scored him nominations for Drama Desk and Tony Awards.

Franco Rivera is played by Daniel Sunjata on FX’s comedy-drama series Rescue Me. He is a NYC firefighter who serves as Tommy Gavin ’s protégé. Franco is a notorious ladies man who starts a romantic relationship Alicia, an older woman.
