Denis Leary is popularly known for his witty antics in the field of comedy. A notable comedian, writer, director and an Emmy Award nominated actor, he has distinctly established himself in the entertainment scene. His niche in the showbiz world, whether in film, theater or on television, has earned him numerous acknowledgments. His manic approach in his endeavors has certainly escalated him to stardom. One of People Magazine’s Sexiest Men Alive in 2006, he attracts his audience with his wining combo of artistic entertainment and charming persona. At present, he stars on the series Rescue Me.

Born on August 18, 1957 in Worcester, Massachusetts. Denis Leary studied at Saint Peter-Marian High School. A graduate of Emerson College, he founded the Emerson Comedy Workshop. His active involvement in theater works in school gave him vital direction in his pursuit of acting. He penetrated the entertainment scene as a comedian. His comedy gigs included a show at the underground club “Play It Again Sam,” a documentary film “When Standup Stood Out”, and a sketch on MTV. In addition, he also released two records entitled No Cure for Cancer and Lock ‘N Load. Gradually, his popularity progressed which eventually led him to grace the movie world. His acting credits included The Thomas Crown Affair, Wag the Dog, Suicide Kings, Operation Dumbo Drop and The Sandlot among others.

Playing Tommy Gavin on the series Rescue Me enables Leary to portray a senior firefighter with the New York City Fire Department. Passionate and highly dedicated to his profession, he appears to be heavily stressed by the pressures of his work. His character suffers from a lot of depression and trauma from his chaotic personal life, which Leary convincingly illustrates.
