With the ends of The Vampire Diaries and Reign, plus the cancellations of freshman shows No Tomorrow and Frequency, the CW has some open slots for new shows in the 2017-2018 TV season, And now all four of those are gone.

The CW has ordered its reboot of the classic ’80s primetime soap Dynasty and the new superhero drama Black Lightning, plus the military-based drama Valor and dramedy Life Sentence.

The new Dynasty comes from Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the duo behind the CW’s successful Gossip Girl. The drama stars Grant Show and Elizabeth Gillies, centering on the battle between two of America’s richest families: the Colbys and the Carringtons.

Black Lightning stars Hart of Dixie‘s Cress Williams as the titular superhero who gets back into the game to protect his two daughters. While the show is produced by Greg Berlanti, it allegedly will not exist within  the same universe as Arrow, The Flash and the rest of the Berlanti-verse.

Valor is a military thriller starring Matt Barr about an Army base of elite helicopter pilots who perform covert missions. Conspiracies unfold dealing with flashbacks to a failed mission that included one of the first female pilots.
