Evan Starkman was born and raised in Canada.  He attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.  Evan was originally picked for The Real World: Key West but he didn't want to give up school so he made his MTV debut on the Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Fresh Meat instead.  Evan started a project called “Branch Out,” an online community which serves as a venue for people who are eager on giving back to the community whatever they have.  The project is a mixture of different activities including one-on-one mentoring and also connecting to various activist groups.  In 2008, he returned to MTV as one of the veterans on Gauntlet III.
